About the Institute
Human-centered governance for organizations using artificial intelligence.
The Human-Centered AI Governance Institute is an independent consulting,
research, and education organization helping boards, executives,
professional teams, public institutions, healthcare organizations,
universities, and technology leaders establish practical oversight
for artificial intelligence.
The Institute is built on a central principle: artificial intelligence
should augment human knowledge and professional judgment—not displace
human authority, accountability, dignity, or responsibility. Technical
capability alone does not establish that an AI system is appropriate,
trustworthy, or safe.
Purpose and Direction
Mission and Purpose
Responsible AI requires more than technical confidence. It requires
defined authority, evidence, oversight, and people who remain answerable
for consequential decisions.
Mission
Help organizations design, evaluate, and maintain responsible AI
governance systems that protect human dignity, strengthen institutional
decision-making, and keep qualified people accountable for consequential
outcomes.
Purpose
Translate responsible-AI principles into practical governance
structures, policies, decision rights, evidence requirements,
review processes, education, and continuing oversight that leaders
can explain, monitor, and enforce.
Human-Centered Governance
What Human-Centered Governance Means
Human-centered governance treats artificial intelligence as a powerful
organizational capability that must remain subject to human direction,
professional standards, documented accountability, and continuing review.
Human Authority
AI may inform, analyze, recommend, or automate defined tasks, but
qualified people must retain authority to review, challenge, override,
and approve consequential decisions.
Clear Accountability
Important AI activities should have named human owners, documented
responsibilities, defined escalation paths, and a clear record of
who authorized, monitored, corrected, or accepted an outcome.
Continuous Oversight
Governance does not end when an AI system is deployed. Organizations
should continue monitoring performance, risk, bias, privacy, safety,
human impact, exceptions, incidents, and corrective action.
Consulting, Research, and Education
What the Institute Does
The Institute works with organizations that need practical,
understandable, and defensible governance for the use of artificial
intelligence.
Governance and Risk Advisory
Support governance design, policy review, decision rights,
accountability structures, AI risk assessment, escalation procedures,
organizational readiness, and implementation oversight.
Executive and Board Guidance
Help boards, executives, and organizational leaders understand AI
responsibilities, ask the right governance questions, define authority,
and establish oversight before risk becomes a crisis.
Research and Independent Analysis
Examine emerging AI governance issues, evidence, standards,
professional guidance, human impact, accountability, healthcare
applications, and responsible innovation.
Education and Speaking
Provide executive briefings, workshops, professional education,
organizational training, and presentations on responsible AI,
governance, ethics, risk, human oversight, and accountability.
